Channel Life Limited is a non-listed, public company. Its main line of business entails the underwriting of life insurance products, with a focus on the lower income sector of the market. However, it also markets niche investment-related products to the affluent market and group-based products to the corporate market.
The company, which has been trading as Anchor Life since the late nineteen sixties, was acquired by the listed PSG Group on 1 January 1997. Its name was changed to Channel Life early in 2001, which also marked the beginning of a strong growth phase for the company. Today, Channel Life is a 62.4% subsidiary of Sanlam and could best be described as a fast-growing, mid-sized life office aiming to play a meaningful role in the developing market of South Africa.
